Mr.Lmani Viney

L-Mani S. Viney is a 29-year veteran educator, youth advocate, and non-profit leader currently
serving as the new Assistant Principal at Orange High School in Orange, NJ for Social Studies.
His extensive background in public education includes roles as Dean of Students at West
Orange High School and a 26-year tenure at Piscataway High School as a Social Studies
teacher and Dean of Students. A dedicated educational leader, youth support and mental health
advocate, Mr. Viney is recognized for creating the PHS African American Studies curriculum,
establishing the "50 Strong" mentorship initiative for young men, and co-chair of the student
mental health transitional support planning team at WOHS. Nationally, he has served as the
National Guide Right Chairman for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Executive Director of its
International Foundation, worked closely with the Obama White House for Educational
Excellence for African Americans and was named to the Obama Foundation’s My Brother’s
Keeper Rising National Conference Steering Committee. His honors include PHS Teacher of the
Year, NJ Amistad Black HIstory Teacher of the Year, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Partner of the
Year. Mr. Viney holds a B.A. from Boston College, an M.A. from Montclair State University, and
is currently a doctoral candidate in Educational Leadership at Kean University. He lives in West
Orange, NJ, with his wife, Deidra, and their two children
